i. Varibar Pudding
ii. Varibar Honey
iii. Varibar Nectar
iv. Varibar Thin Liquid
v. 1 EZ Disk Barium Tablet (in small medicine cup)

b. Small Dixie cups
c. Straw
d. Spoons
e. Lead markers
f. Timms/ Perkins computer

II. Personnel

a. Radiologist/RA

i. Responsible for providing fluoroscopy for the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
ii. Assesses patient swallow in collaboration with SLP
iii. Responsible for terminating exam if excessive aspiration occurs

b. Hospital Technologist

i. Reviews order for appropriateness, prints order for rad/RA review
ii. Documents patient history, allergies, and pregnancy status prior to exam
iii. Communicates with scheduling, nurses and SLP
iv. Provides patient/nurse with aftercare instructions

III. Procedure

a. The radiologist/RA runs the fluoroscope or C-Arm during MBSS
b. SLP administers different consistencies of barium and barium coated food
c. Lead markers should be used to identify food and liquid consistency
d. MBSS form to be filled out by the RA or SLP (when radiologist performs exam)
e. Images to be sent according to site protocol (try to keep studies under 1000 images)

IV. Required Images

a. Screen capture runs of contrast filled cervical esophagus
